Ace High – A hand consisting of an Ace without a pair or better
Aces Full – A full house with 3 Aces and any pair
Bonus Video Poker – refers to a video poker game that has larger payouts for bonus hands
Bust – A worthless hand
Cycle – The mathematical probability of getting a paying hand over a certain period of time
Denomination – The number of a card (from two, deuce, through to ten, or Jack, Queen, King, Ace) is the card’s denomination
Deuces – The two denomination in a deck of cards
Draw – A set of replacement cards for those cards discarded from the deal hand
Double Up – the option to double the bet on a winning hand. The player must draw a higher value card against the machine to double winnings
Edge – The advantage in a game of video poker, based on a mathematical expectation
Flush – A hand containing any 5 cards in the same suit (5 hearts)
Flat Top – A video poker machine that does not have a progressive jackpot
Four of A Kind – A hand containing four cards of the same denomination
Full House – A hand that contains three of a kind, plus a pair (e.g. 555, QQ)
Garbage Hand – A hand that will not let you win anything
Hold – the cards you chose to keep in a hand
House – The casino running the game (e.g. Royal Vegas)
Inside Straight – Four cards, where the one card you need to complete the straight is in the middle of the run
Inside Straight Flush – The same as above except that the cards must be of the same suit
Jackpot – A bonus paid out when you hit the highest hand on a poker machine
Quads – Four of a kind
Rank – The numerical number of a card, as opposed to a suit
Royal Flush – A hand containing a Ten, Jack, Queen, King, Ace. This is the highest hand in video poker
Straight – Five cards, not in the same suit, but in a numerical sequence
Straight Flush – Five cards in the same suit, in a numerical sequence
Suit – The four suits are Clubs, Diamonds, Hearts or Spades
Three of a kind – A hand that has three cards of the same denomination
Tilt – To play recklessly
Wild Card – A card that can substitute for any other card in the deck
